Marvin Ray Preslar

Marvin Ray Preslar, 66, of Ruffin went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10TH, 2022.

A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Trotter Bolton officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 14th, 2022, from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Marvin was born in Richmond County, Georgia to Thelma Scronce Preslar and the late William Parks Preslar Sr. He graduated from Reidsville Senior High School. He retired after 34 years of service as the Ranger at Camp Cherokee BSA. Marvin loved the outdoors and had a special heart for people in need. He worked hard to be a positive influence on youth at the camp and in the community. In his recent retirement, Marvin renewed his love for gardening and yard work (anything that included using his big orange tractor).  Most of all, he loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Along with his father, Marvin is preceded in death by his sister, Lucy Hyatt Krites.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma Preslar; siblings, William Parks Preslar Jr., Beverly Clyde Preslar, and twin, Margaret Preslar Hash along with numerous nieces, nephews and a large group of extended family and friends.

Marvin was a gentle, caring soul who faithfully served. May his legacy of service to Scouting and his fellow man live on. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Preslar family. May God's tenderness provide comfort and strength during this time.
