William Jennings Randolph

Reidsville – William Jennings Randolph, 78, of 1927 Iron Works Road, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, January 18, at Carraway Memorial United Methodist Church, in Greensboro with Rev. Diane Marsden officiating. The burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with military graveside rites. The pallbearers will be Rev. Bill Randolph, Randy Randolph, Rusty Randolph, J.P. Lester, Tommy Jones and Steve Mason. Mr. Randolph was born in Guilford County to the late Major Lee and Maggie Cates Randolph. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Greensboro Police Department after 27 years of service. Mr. Randolph was a longtime and faithful member of Carraway Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was a leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He was also a member of the Methodist Men, the choir and was as an usher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Jones Randolph; brothers, Melvin, Wesley, Osborne, Herman and Tommy Randolph; and sister, Ailene Tarvin. He is survived by daughters, Beverly Randolph Harrelson and husband, Terry of Danville, VA and Levina Randolph Barnes and husband, Randy of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jessica Andriola and husband, Chris, Catherine Barnes and fiancé, Justin Beckworth, and Zach Harrelson; sister, Ruth Kernodle of Salisbury, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 17 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at his residence.
