William David Horne, Sr. 78, of Reidsville, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2026, at his home in Reidsville.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Woodmont United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tripp Harmon and Rev. Christi Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
William was born in Rockingham County and graduated from Reidsville High School in 1965. He later attended Rockingham Community College and NC State College. He then started his career with his father at Horne Construction Company until his retirement in 2016. William was a charter member of Woodmont united Methodist Church. He played for Reidsville Senior High School Basketball Team, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. William had a shop where he and his friends worked on 4 wheel drive motors and enjoyed racing at drag and motorcross events in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He also loved making trips to Las Vegas with his friends. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Myrtle Horne; and his son, William “Will” David Horne, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Horne; daughter, Erin Collins and her husband, Mark; granddaughters, Bailey Collins, Morgan Collins, and Katelyn Haskett and her husband, Hunter; grandson, Evan Collins; great-grandchildren, Collins Haskett; brother, Mark Horne; sister, Barbara Horne and numerous other extended family.
