Wallace Neal Walker passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Gibson Hospice House in Reidsville, NC.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Happy Home Church Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Jerry Lankford.
Born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, he was the son of Samuel (Harry) Walker and Emily Scearce Walker. He ran Walker’s Auto Repair and carried papers while working at Cone Mills – Edna Plant, where he was employed for 25 years until it closed. He then worked for Industrial Air until his retirement after 22 years. He was a hard worker all his life and loved providing for and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and making memories. He was an avid hunter until his health began to fail. Daddy was a man of few words unless he had something on his mind, and he was strong as an ox. He could do anything. He served as a trustee at Happy Home Church, where he was a member. Daddy and Mama started dating in the 10th grade and remained inseparable for 59 years. They taught their children and grandchildren what true love and marriage were supposed to be. Daddy and Mama were reunited on February 5th.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his love, Jo Ann Newnam Walker; sister-in-law, Louise Robertson; brothers-in-law, Red Robertson and Barry Southard; and nephew, Scott Robertson.
Survivors include son, Jeff Walker and wife Traci; daughter, Jennifer DeLapp and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Trace DeLapp and wife, Caroline, Tyler Walker, Ethan Cooley, and Allyson Cochran and husband, Brent; great-grandchildren, Barrett, Olivia, Benjamin, Owen, and Ava; sisters, Milly Southard and Linda Lynskey; special neighbor, Pam Williams; special nephew, Chris Robertson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Ancora for their compassionate care and support. There will be no formal visitation, and the family respectfully asks that you give them time to grieve. Any food that you would have brought to them may be given to your local food pantry. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Ancora or Happy Home Church Cemetery Fund. Memorial contributions may also be made in memory of Wallace to Ancora – Gibson House or the Happy Home Cemetery Fund, 6941 NC 700, Ruffin, NC 27326.
