Virginia "Peggy" Carter Moore

Virginia “Peggy” Carter Moore, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Hospice of Rockingham County – Gibson House.

Funeral services will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 11:00AM with Pastors Bill and Russell McKinney officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am and other times at the home of her daughter, Robin Miller.

Peggy was born on July 3, 1936, to the late Fletcher and Pearl Carter in Rockingham County. She was a charter member of the Christian Fellowship Assembly of God Church in Reidsville. Peggy retired from the Dietary Department at Annie Penn Hospital after 36 years of service. Peggy enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved to cook and feed her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be remembered for her kindness and heart of gold.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James “Bill” Moore; and grandsons, Michael Preston Smith and Christopher Matthew Smith.

Peggy is survived by her five children, Toby Moore and wife Angie, Bryon Moore and wife Melissa, Robin Miller and husband Keith, Vicki Rogers and fiancé James, Donion Moore and fiancé, Luna; ten grandchildren, Shaneise Moore, Ciara Moore, Gunnar Rogers, Kelsie Moore, Maia Moore, Kaleb Moore, April Rakestraw, Renee Brewer, Austin Sutton, and Dalton Sutton; seven great-grandchildren, Declan Rogers, Asher Rogers, Garrett Rakestraw, Gauge Rakestraw, Haven Brewer, Gideon Brewer, and Will Honaker; brother-in-law, John Cecil Moore; special Aunt, Bertie Pruitt; in addition to numerous other extended family and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to their Mom.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County – Gibson House, HRC,  P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
