Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Edwards, 67, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Elder Ray King officiating. Burial will follow at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her sister, Wanda.

Born and raised by the late Rufus Coleman Edwards and Doris Elizabeth Oakley Edwards in Rockingham County, she was a proud graduate of Reidsville High School. Throughout her life, she called several places home, including New Jersey and Texas, but no matter where life took her, she made lasting friendships and cherished the people she met along the way. She had a love for adventure and enjoyed traveling and taking trips whenever she could. She also had a passion for riding motorcycles, embracing the freedom and joy that came with being on the open road. She was blessed with many wonderful friends who brought laughter, companionship, and special memories throughout her life. Above all, she loved her family. She treasured the time spent together and created memories that will be cherished forever. Her family was at the heart of her life, and her love for them never wavered.

Later in life, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Even as the disease changed so many things, one thing remained constant: her ability to love. She continued to love the people around her right up until the very end, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, family, and unconditional love.

In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Edwards and Johnny Edwards. She is survived by her son, T.J. Tuttle and wife, Emily; grandchildren, Alyssa, Quentin, and Toby; sister, Wanda Edwards Hennis and husband, Chuck; brothers, Wayland Edwards and wife, Sharon, and Wendell Edwards and wife, Rhonda; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created, the friendships she formed, and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13
