Listen to Obituary

Timothy Wayne McQueen, 64, stepped into the arms of his loving Savior Jesus Christ on November 3rd, 2025.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with pastor Mark Tanner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

He was born November 15, 1960, to Jim and Vivian Sossaman McQueen in Greensboro, NC. He was a loving son, brother, nephew and loyal friend. Although this loss is heavy, we are comforted by the personal relationship he had with Jesus.

Tim graduated from Reidsville High School in 1979 and The University of North Carolina Greensboro with a degree in Chemistry. He went on to work in the field of Hazardous Waste Treatment and Disposal. That work took him from Greensboro, NC, to Charlotte, NC, to Houston Texas, then back to Greensboro where he eventually retired. He was highly respected in his field for his knowledge and desire to manage hazardous waste in the best and safest manner. He wrote the training manuals for the safety protocols used when treating many hazardous chemicals.

Tim had many hobbies throughout his life such as racing motocross as a teenager, scuba diving and treasure hunting, photography, attending music festivals, camping and most recently a newfound love of pickleball. He also enjoyed tracing family ancestry and scanning old family photographs. He loved his “puppy nephew”, Rusty and spoiled him with dog treats and new toys, which were always Rusty’s favorites.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Dale McQueen and Vivian Sossaman McQueen.

Tim is survived by his sister, Angela McQueen (Chris Grogan); uncle, Ed Sossaman Jr. (Betsi) along with a large group of friends, close cousins and extended family.

Special thanks to all of Tim’s Pickleball tribe for the love, joy and friendship you have bestowed on him. He loved you all greatly. A special thank you is also in order to Alan Strong of New Bern, David Anderson of Reidsville, Gene Arthur of Reidsville, and Daniel Exum (Jenny) of Apex, for their loving presence and true lifelong friendship. A final special thanks goes to Tina Purgason Smith for your unwavering love of Tim and I. You are our true angel. I love you girl and I am forever grateful for you.

Tim’s passing is so profound, but we want to honor God even in this loss and speak life over Tim’s Legacy. I will miss you my special brother, but I look forward to the day I will see you again in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter at 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 or the charity of your choice.
