Susan “Susie” Pope Green, 86, of White Stone, Masonic Home, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Wesley Long Hospital.
Susie was born in Greensboro and was the daughter of the late Henry Theodore Pope, Jr., and Lula Persons Pope. She was a member of Monticello United Church of Christ.
Susie dedicated her professional life to the legal field, working as a paralegal for many law firms throughout her career. She retired from Smith Helms Mulliss & Moore, where she was respected for her dedication and commitment to her work.
A woman who loved life and the simple joys it offered, Susie had many interests that brought her happiness throughout the years. As a young woman, she was an avid equestrian at Sedgefield Showgrounds, a passion she cherished and one that has been carried on by her granddaughter, Shelby. She also had a deep love of gardening, reading, animals, and traveling, including the many opportunities to see new places through her work.
Susie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sherri Green Stewart and husband, Jay, and Lynn Green Morgan; her grandchildren, Houston Dean Gordon and wife, Monika, Shelby Faye Craft and husband, Austin, and Cindi Stewart Perdue and husband, Danny; and her great-granddaughters, Ella Grace and Eden Anne.
She is also survived by her brother, Mike Pope and wife, Sandy, and their children.
Susie’s love for her family, her appreciation for animals and nature, and her warm spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A private service will be held at the Green Family Memorial Garden Family Center, with Rev. John Willet officiating.
