Sue Johnson Thompson, 88, of Reidsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home.  

A private inurnment will be held at Woodmont United Methodist Church Columbarium. The family will be available to receive friends on Thursday evening, March 28, 2024 at her home.

Sue was born in Lynchburg, VA to the late Emmitt Johnson and Hazel Allsbrook Johnson.  She met and married her late husband, Tommy Thompson in Culpepper, VA.  They started their marriage with her working for the President of Concord College in Bluefield, WV, while her husband earned his accounting degree.   Upon completion he went to work with Burlington Industries and the family moved multiple times until settling in Reidsville, NC.  Sue was an active church member in each town they lived and enjoyed volunteering in the community.  While in Reidsville she worked at Wachovia Bank  and in real estate.  After their children were grown, she and her husband started a business together called Thompson House Antiques.  She had a great love for animals and rescued many over the years.  She will be remembered for her amazing strength and determination and showed her best self when faced with adversities.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Pruitt and husband, Bobby, and their son, Dr. Tripp Pruitt and wife, Dr. Julie Pruitt and great granddaughter, Madeleine Claire Pruitt; and son, Frank Thompson and wife, Sandra, and their son, Ivan Thompson and wife, Julie, and great granddaughters, Averie and Berkleigh Thompson.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her caregivers, Shelia Gwynn, Linda Clark,  Kami McKinney, Michelle Miller, and Angi Wood for their love and companionship. Also, a special thanks to Woodmont United Methodist Church Meal Ministry.
