Shelby Jean Stanley Setliff, 89, went to her Forever Home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital. Shelby was born on April 10, 1937, to the late Joe Andrew Stanley and Edna Apple Stanley. Shelby was employed by Brookside Industries and worked their for most of her working life.
Family Visitation will be Friday, September 4th, from 5 p.m.–7 p.m., and Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 5th, at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memory Gardens, with Rev. Harvey Anders officiating. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Ashley, 1187 Wolf Island Rd. in Reidsville.
Shelby loved her family very much and spent most of her time with them, especially her precious granddaughter, Ashley, which is her pride and joy. All throughout Ashley's life, her grandmother Shelby was always present; they enjoyed singing songs together, shopping, and most of all, just spending quality time together. She also thought the world of her grand fur babies—Daisy, Sadie, and Dolly—in which she loved very much! She loved to listen and sing along to Alan Jackson songs, watch Perry Mason on TV, and she loved to read! Her favorite hobby was taking care of her flowers—oh, how she loved her flowers.
Survivors include her son, James Timothy (Tim) Setliff and wife, Ruby; her granddaughter, Ashley Setliff, all of Reidsville; numerous nieces and nephews; Sister-n-Law and dear friend, Gracey Stanley.
Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, James Abe (Jimmy) Setliff; her daughter, Pamela Ann Setliff; Brothers, JD, Joe, and James Stanley; and Sister, Dorothy Perkins.
Steve Voss, a great friend that she thought alot of, which was just like a son to her.
A special thank you to CNA Janet Thomas (Janice) at Heartland Rehab Facility that assisted with taking care of Shelby the last 5 months of her life; we appreciate all you have done.
Due to an allergy within the family, the family kindly requests that no live potted plants be sent. Fresh standing sprays delivered to the funeral home are welcome, as are artificial floral arrangements and artificial potted plants that the family may take home.
