Sergio Antonio Pontifes Renteria

Sergio Antonio Pontifes Renteria, 31, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Sergio was born in Guerrero, Mexico to Juan Renteria Gonzalez and Apolonia Pontifes Cabrera. Our beloved son was loved by all. He was a talented hardworking man and a beloved son, brother, and friend. He had a sociable personality, with an open ear to every little conversation that came his way. He kept our spirits up with his smile. He would never miss a day without calling his family. He was very protective and loving towards his parents and sisters. Even though he had his challenges, he never complained. He will be missed by all the people he crossed paths with.

 He loved listening to music and enjoyed making everyone move to the beat with him. He was a hard-working person who found every opportunity to learn new skills. He worked as a painter for most of his career. No matter what circumstances or challenges he faced, he always saw the bright side of things. On his last family trip he enjoyed his time at the beach. He knew that this day came with accepting his destiny that God had for him. Leaving this world in peace alongside his beautiful family. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Felipa Gonzalez, Lazaro Renteria, Pedro Pontifes;

Along with his parents, Sergio is survived by his grandmother, Luisa Cabrera; sisters, Cindy, and Karina Renteria Pontifes; numerous aunts and uncles and a loving extended family.

Nuestro amado hijo fue amado por todos. Era un hombre trabajador talentoso y un amado hijo, hermano y amigo. El tenía una personalidad sociable, con los oídos abiertos a cada pequeña conversión que se le presentaba. Mantuvo nuestro ánimo con su sonrisa . Nunca perdería un día sin llamar a su familia. Era muy protector y cariñoso con sus padres y hermanas. A pesar de que tuvo sus desafíos, nunca se quejó. Será extrañado por todas las personas con las que se cruzó. Le encantaba escuchar música y disfrutaba haciendo que todos se movieran al ritmo con el. Era una persona muy trabajadora que encontraba todas las oportunidades para aprender nuevas habilidades. Trabajó como pintor la mayor parte de su carrera. Sin importar las circunstancias o los desafíos que enfrentó, siempre vio el lado positivo de las cosas. En su último viaje familiar disfrutó de su tiempo en la playa. Sabía que este día llegaba con aceptando su destino que dios tenia para el. Dejando este mundo en paz a lado su hermosa familia. Será extrañado por toda su familia y amigos.
