Rubin "RB" Benjamin Hundley

Rubin “RB” Benjamin Hundley Jr., 86, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at New Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Terry Lawson, Dr. Jerry Whitlow, and Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating.  Burial to follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Rubin was born in Rockingham County to the late Rubin Benjamin Hundley Sr. and Georgia Handy Hundley. He attended Wentworth High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church for 37 years and taught Sunday School for 60 years. RB worked many jobs including: Ivey Tire Company, Vick Chemical, U.S. Postal Service, Tobacco Farmer and eventually retired from American Tobacco Company. He loved being outside mowing yards and doing for others. First and foremost, he loved the Lord and spending time with his family and friends whom he loved dearly. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by, brother, Ronald Lee Hundley Sr. and sister, Linda Hundley Miller.

RB is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Hundley; daughter, Carolyn Young and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Ben Minter and wife, Hope; Brian Minter and wife, Hannah; Tyler Minter and wife, Ashley, and Chace Young; great grandchildren, Kira, Thea, Linda, Layne, Maverick, Savannah, Haidyn and Samuel; siblings, Milton Hundley and Rowena Shinault as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Heights Baptist Church Building Fund at 2796 NC Highway 14, Reidsville, NC 27320.
