Roseanne Gibson Ore

Listen to Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Roseanne Ore, 71, announces her passing at Wesley Long Hospital on Wednesday, May, 20, 2026.

The family will be gathering at the home of her daughter, Miranda, over the weekend at 111 Nanable Drive, Madison, NC 27025.

Roseanne was a loving mother, Memaw, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She had a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a way of making everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. Whether she was cheering from the stands at a softball tournament, spending time with her grandchildren, or simply sitting with the people she loved most, Roseanne treasured every moment shared with family and friends.

Roseanne enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved her fur babies dearly, enjoyed traveling with her family, trips to the beach and Dollywood, and found happiness anywhere her loved ones were gathered. She was known for her caring nature, warm smile, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.

She retired from UNIFI after more than 40 years of dedicated service. She also worked for Sandy Cross General Merchandise from 1988 until 2000 and for Reidsville Florist for 15 years, where she made many lasting friendships along the way.

Roseanne was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur H. Gibson and Gracie Gibson Mitchell; and her beloved grandson, Christopher Austin Carter.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Susan Wray and Miranda Surles; grandchildren, Jamie Surles (Ashley), Katelyn Stovall, Jacob Surles (Emily), Ava Harris, and Emma Harris; great-grandchildren, Weston and Magnolia Surles; brothers, Larry Gibson (Pam), Ronnie Gibson, and Mike Gibson (Linda); her sister and best friend, Debra Carter; nieces, Christie Carter and Jackie Carter (Thomas); nephew, Ryan Gibson (Julie); her cherished fur babies, Bella and Cricket; her longtime soulmate, Gary Wray; longtime friends, Bonnie and Allen Purgason; and special daughters, Jaime and Christina.

In lieu of flowers, Roseanne wished for donations to be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter at 250 Cherokee Camp Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320
