God sent an angel for Rogers Jefferson Paschal on Saturday April 27, 2024, freeing him from suffering, and is now in the blessed care of our Lord for eternity.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville with Pastor Wesley Byerly officiating, burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Rogers was the fifth child born to Alben and Ola Smith Paschal. He grew up on the family farm raising tobacco. Later, he went to work at Burlington Industries in July of 1959 and retired in August of 1999. During his career, he started as a service personnel and served throughout many departments until he retired as a Quality Assurance Manager. While in his senior year of school, he met his sweetheart, the former Shelby Earles, and they were married on his 21st birthday, per his wishes. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their son Glenn Rogers and eight years later with their daughter Deirdre “Dee Dee”. He became a really proud Papa with the birth of his grandson, David II and granddaughter, Danielle.
Rogers began playing the guitar in 1995 and soon found himself playing with his wife, Shelby, where they witnessed to many with songs of faith and praise in nursing homes, churches, and various functions.
Along with his parents, he was preceded by death by an infant brother, and his brother Merylin Paschal and his wife Vivian; sisters, Alene Parker, Ann Smith and husband Donald, Katherine Miles, Linda Smithey and husband Larry. He is also preceded in death by special friends, Jimmy Johnson, James Hickox, Claude Hudson, Robert Fuller, Marvin Stone Cecil and Syble Blankenship all of whom he played and sang for at their funerals.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Shelby Paschal; he also leaves behind his caring and devoted children, Glenn Paschal and wife, Mylinda; and Dee Huffman and husband David; precious grandchildren, David Huffman, II , and Danielle Huffman; brothers, Jerry Paschal and wife Donna, Jimmy Paschal; sister, Maye Ware and husband Cary; he is also survived by his sister-in-law, Katherine Earles and Aunt, Elena Paschal; dear friends, Jerry and Carrie Burke, and their daughter, Pam Burke; Betty Lou Hickox, Tony Sides, Tom McKenzie, Jim Wickline, and Martha Johnson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Special thank you to managers Jeremy and Crystall and all their staff at Reidsville Biscuitville for all of their many kindnesses extended to him and Mrs. Shelby.
The family would also like to thank Maple Lawn Baptist Church and their pastor for their love and prayers, as well as to the staff of Hospice of Rockingham County for their exceptional care.
