Stephen “Ricky” Hutchens, 67, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at his residence. He will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Wilkerson Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ricky had a passion for cars, especially his beloved Camaro. Whether he was working under the hood, admiring cars at a show, or enjoying the excitement of a race, he was happiest when surrounded by the sights and sounds of the hobby he loved. He especially enjoyed drag racing and competing in burnout contests, collecting several trophies along the way. He also loved getting away to Tennessee, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family and friends. With a smile on his face and a helping hand always ready, Ricky had a way of making others feel welcome and cared for. He was a good man with a big heart, and his kindness, friendship, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Hutchens, and his father, Tommy Hutchens.
He is survived by his significant other, Debbie Lindsey; his children, Stephen Wilson and wife, Angie, Travis Hutchens and wife, Brittany, Jennifer Boyte-Hutchens, and John Lindsey; his grandchildren, Diana, Elizabeth, Faithlynn, Grayson, Levi, Addison, Travis Jr., Cooper, and Banks; and a great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Butch Hutchens and wife, Ruby; many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends who loved and cherished him.
In Loving Memory of Dad
He never looked for praises
He was never one to boast
He just went on quietly working
For the ones he loved the most.
His dreams were seldom spoken
His wants were very few
And most of the time his worries
Went unspoken too.
He was there.... A firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold on to
In times of stress and strife.
A true friend we could turn to
When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings
The man that we called Dad.
