Richard “Dick” Bradley Shatney, 82, of Reidsville, NC passed away on January 1, 2024, from a long battle with dementia. He was born in Hardwick, Vermont to the late Frank and Clara Shatney.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his 3 brothers Kenneth Shatney, Leslie Shatney & Glenn Shatney
Dick was one of a kind. During his life, he spent many years on the open road, driving a truck. Above all else, he loved his family and considered it his greatest accomplishment. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. He loved the outdoors. Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and mowing the lawn. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t go outside, even in the rain.
Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy Albright Shatney; daughters, Cindy Davis and husband Jerry and Linda Whitehead and husband Donnie; grandchildren, Jennifer Knapp and husband James, Phillip (PJ) Danforth and wife Tristina, Michael Danforth and wife Tosha, Daniel Whitehead and wife Samantha and Thomas Whitehead and wife Rachel; great-grandchildren, James Knapp, Jr., Bayliegh Danforth, Jayce Young, Hayden Danforth, Bentley Danforth, Maddie Whitehead, Gabe Whitehead, Gabbie Whitehead; sister, Carol Brill; sister-in-laws, Becky Shatney and Sharon Shatney.
