Collette, Words cannot express how much your Daddy meant to our family. He was not our pastor, but it felt like he was. We have so many wonderful years of memories to cherish--some very recent. With heartfelt love and sympathy, Nellie Holcomb Roberts

Our best memories of Pastor Dan Jones was at a certain Missionary Conference in the eighties, our first one at First Congregational Church. It was a lot of fun. And we discovered a very jovial man, a typical Southerner, hospitable, fun, and also a scholar and a great pastor. We will cherish these memories and we send our sincere condolences to the family. Michael and Collette, I wish that I had met you so I could have said this in person. Your Dad was such a unique person as well as a minister. He served as a chaplain at Cone Hospital. Since I knew him, he would make a point to find me to say "Hello" and flashme a smile. My Dad and he became good friends while he was hospitalized. We asked him to speak at his funeral. He got a shade long winded but he was a wonderful speaker. He spoke at my aunt, Sallie Puckett Rakestraw, he did an outstanding job. One of my uncle's told him what a great job he had done. His response " It is easy when you have material to work with". I am long-winded also. I appreciate all that he did for me and my family. I can imagine him at the gates looking for your Mom. God Bless you.
