Phillip Dean Southard

Phillip Southard, 47, was embraced in the Lord’s arms and taken to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his home.

A Memorial Service for Phillip will be held Saturday July 9, 2022 at Midway United Methodist Church in Reidsville at 5:00 PM followed by a Covered Dish Dinner.

Phillip was born to Mary Lou Strong and Ronald Southard in Greensboro, NC.  Phillip was so intelligent and excelled in his fields of expertise.  He spent several years with Walmart’s Headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas.  He continued to build his computer skills and was sought after for his programming skills.  He left Bentonville to pursue his craft in Denver, Colorado and found the home that he dearly loved.  He loved people and was always looking to help people.  He had a heart of gold and couldn’t see weaknesses in others around him.

Phillip, throughout the years, did a lot of traveling.  He went to Seattle, Washington for a Google Conference.  He was chosen by Google to attend this event.  In his work, he went to many states for various work assignments.  Before leaving Greensboro, he traveled to Jerusalem to the home office of the company that he was working for.

Phillip’s pride and joy is his beloved cat.  He loved Neo and loved to teach him tricks like walking on a leash, teaching him to sit, and teaching many other tricks.  Neo was such a comfort to Phillip.  In his many times of stress, he knew he could always count on his long-time friend, Neo.  He shared his memories of himself and Neo with all of his many friends.  He loved his Denver Family and loved to cook for them and enjoy the many family meals that they shared.

Phillip is preceded in death by his step-father, Tom Strong, and by his sister, Angela Stout.  He had a special love for Angie.  Sometimes he didn’t know how to show that love but his love was real.  He has been very stressed out about Angie since her passing in January, 2022.  Phillip is survived by his companion, Neo; his mother, Mary Lou Strong; his father Ronald Southard (Lynn); his brother, Danny Southard (Lynn) and stepbrothers, Steve Strong (Sam), Eric Strong (Tess), Thomas Baird, and stepsister, Angela Baggett and numerous nieces and nephews and other close family members.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of the many family members and friends who supported Phillip during his time away from his North Carolina Home.  He will be greatly missed.  His mother wishes for him to find comfort, love, and support in his next life.
