Dear Mrs. Hawkins, Julie and Beth, We are saddened to hear of Pastor Hawkins passing, yet at the same time, we are rejoicing that he is in the presence of his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. We have many wonderful memories of our time together at Tidewater Baptist. We remember having your family over for dinner at our house when you were first coming to Tidewater Baptist. Then there were times in choir practice, special services during the holiday seasons and children's plays. We cherish the love and affection we have for your family and treasure the few moments that we have been able to share with you over the intervening years. I don't know if there is dust in heaven, but if there is, its gold dust, and I believe Pastor has been kicking up gold dust on Hallelujah Blvd, praising his Savior. God Bless you and keep you. With much love and affection in Christ Reggie and Pat Forgays, Jim and Anne-Marie

God has placed many men of God in my ministry to be mentors and I thank God for this.... Dr. Hawkins was one of many who have been instrumental to my life..... It saddens me when I hear of one of God's Soldiers that He has called from battle.

I have mixed emotions to hear of the passing of Pastor Hawkins. Sadness for his dear wife and daughters but great happiness for him! I cant wait to hear his stories one day of what it was like to enter Heaven and look finally on the face of our dear Lord Jesus! Pastor Hawkins was a master story-teller. Much love and prayers for you all at this very difficult time.

My parents were friends with Dr. and Mrs. Hawkins and as a little girl I always said that when I grew up Dr. Hawkins would marry me. Many years later I had the great honor of having Dr. Hawkins marry me when he officiated my wedding. My sincerest condolences. He will be greatly missed. Angel Medlin Fowler
