Pastor Norman “Chris” Cox, 57 of Reidsville passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2025. It is beyond all doubt that he entered into his Father’s kingdom shouting praises of glory, dancing, and singing. He loved the Lord and was a walking testimony, If you knew him, you already knew that.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday night at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Chris was very proud of his 38-year professional driving career. Over the years, he kept a clean and safe record, and a very clean ride that he was proud of. He earned numerous awards for safe driving etc. You name it, and he could drive it, especially anything with a manual stick shift. Trucking was in his blood from birth as he rode around as a baby with his father.
The absolute most important role to Chris was preaching and ministry. He started Redemption Through Him Ministries at the old radio station on 87 with the giant cross. He didn’t care about your attire. He would always say “Come as you are, God is looking at your heart, not your clothes or outward appearance.”. Chris preached and spoke in a way people easily understood and he preached straight from the King James Bible. He definitely was not your “cookie cutter” pastor. He reached and changed the lives of many. After he was forced to close RTHM, he longed to open another church with so much desire in his heart. That dang devil wasn’t going to keep Chris Cox down! Everywhere Chris went, he was sharing the Word of God; on the job, on the cb radio, in the grocery store, and anywhere he was. He was a walking, talking, truck driving preacher. Chris truly lived his life sharing his testimony here on earth. He loved helping others understand the bible and counseling to whatever need. He was always available around the clock.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, just shy of 38 years, Stephanie Cox; only son, Ryan Cox (Straight from his loins) and truly his best friend in the world, brother, Butch Cox (Marvette) ; sister, Dori Gwynn; step father, Henry Ingle; special aunt, Peggie Williams; special uncle, Steve Moore (Nancy); three nieces, a nephew, many cousins, extended family, Harold Jones, a "father figure" and mechanic; truly great friends that he considered family, and all his special church family from RTHM. Last but not least, he is survived by his spoiled and much-loved canine companion, Xena.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Moore Ingle; father, James Floyd “Jim” Cox; maternal grandparents, Paul and Madelyn Moore (of the former Paul’s Curb Market of Reidsville); paternal grandparents, Wallace and Beulah Cox.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made directly to Wilkerson Funeral Home to assist in Chris’s final expenses.
