Opal P. Keen

Reidsville: Opal P. Keen, 89, of 1104 Larkwood Dr. Reidsville, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Reidsville Alliance Church with Rev. Peter Dodge officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Opal was born on September 24, 1926, in Rockingham County to the late Onnie Ward Powell and Claudia Ashworth Powell. She was a dedicated member of Reidsville Alliance Church. She enjoyed gardening and church fellowship. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hearl Calvin Griffin; her second husband, Alvin Keen; her daughters, Beverly Griffin Ward and Donna Sue Griffin; her brothers, Arnold and Norman Powell, and her sister, Linda Schofield. Survivors include her grandsons, Greg Ward and Nick Ward and wife Katie; her great grandchildren, Olivia Ward and Chase Ward; her brother, Herman Powell; her sister, Velma Chrismon and many nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.
