Ocie Mae Gammon

Ruffin- Ocie Mae Gammon, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at the Penn Nursing Center. A private, invite only, graveside service will be held on Friday, April 10 , 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Gammon Family Cemetery at 7623 N.C. 700, Ruffin, NC 27326 with Rev. Cress Warner officiating. Ocie was born on October 7, 1927 to the late Earl Winston and Annie Ritchie Hughes. She was married to the late Otha W. Gammon on April 23, 1946 and lived in the happy home community for over 72 years. She was a retired tobacco farmer and loved, dancing, music, working in her flower garden and quilting. Ocie was a member of Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church and the Rockingham County Quilters Guild. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband, Otha W. Gammon; Siblings, Ella Hanks, Mary Hawker, Lucille Ferrell, J.E. Hughes and Ellen Booth. She is survived her sons, Bill Gammon and wife Deborah and Barry Gammon as well as her daughter, Kay Gammon all of Ruffin; sisters, Doris Ford and husband Jim of Melbourne, FL., Ruth Smith of South Boston, VA. AND Janice Setney of Lake City, FL. Although the family will not be receiving friends publicly during this time, family and friends not able to attend the graveside, may register and pay respects prior to the service here at the funeral home.

Kay, Bill and Barry... lots of memories of our vacations to visit the family - and the destination was always your house. Aunt Mae always saw to it everyone had what they needed and enjoyed themselves. Grateful for those times. She was a very special person and I know your hearts are full of good memories.
