Nettie Alverson Woods

Nettie Winfred Alverson Woods, 96, of Reidsville took Jesus by the hand to walk her last mile into Glory on 10/08/2021.

A funeral service will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2 PM with Dr. Terry Lawson and Rev. Daniel Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Sonja Cassell at 240 Shadowood Lane, Reidsville, NC 27320. Nettie will be laid to rest beside her sweetheart at Reidlawn Cemetery on Barnes Street in Reidsville.

Nettie was the eldest of 5 children of the late Uel Henry and Dora Ardenia London Alverson and grew up in Oregon Hill Community of Ruffin, NC. Nettie was a longtime member of New Heights Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Elbert Lee Woods; infant twins, Uel Joseph and Melissa Ardenia Woods; brother, Hunter Eldridge Alverson and sister Dorothy Smith.

Left to cherish Nettie’s memory are her children, Elbert Wayne and wife Mary Woods of Greensboro; daughters, Shelia Corum and husband Frankie of the home; Sonia Denise Hill and husband William of Sanford; 8 grandchildren, 23 great Grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Harrell of Cary and Jean Nelson of Oak Ridge along with numerous nieces, nephews and a loving extended family.
