Nancy Thompson Hunsucker, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior in her sleep on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

She was born January 10th, 1939, to the late Andrew Mitchell and Mae-Belle Moore Thompson in Wythe County, VA.

She worked many years as a secretary with the US Department of Forestry in Washington, DC. Then she changed careers and worked as a home health nurse in California, Virginia, and North Carolina before retiring and settling down in Lexington, NC where she met her husband, William (Bill) Hunsucker. She talked many times about the day she would see her Bill again. She was so in love. Ms. Nancy, as her friends call her, never met a stranger and was loved by so many, she had such a loving and giving spirit. She loved flowers, animals, and children. She attended Reidsville Baptist Church.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Mitch Thompson, Howard Thompson, half-brother Skipper Soyars.

Nancy is survived by her sister Betty Ferguson, brother Simon Thompson and special sister-in-law Peggy Thompson, special friends Dwight and Mary Rich, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockingham Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Rd., Reidsville, NC, Or Reidsville Baptist Church, 116 S Franklin St., Reidsville, NC.
