Mike Collins

Thomas Michael “Meathead” Collins, 63, of Rockingham County, passed away on October 8, 2019 at his home. Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Sharon Lee officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, October 11, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and other times at 811 Witty Road. Mike was born in Rockingham County to the late Herbert Mitchell Collins and Mary Henry Isley Collins. In his earlier days, he could be found playing softball often playing in three or four leagues at one time. He loved riding horses, especially with his trail tribe. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved his family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife of 21 years Joy Collins; daughter, Jennifer Collins; son, Brandon Arnold (Rachel Barrett); siblings, Nancy Collins Moore (Doug) and Herbert Lewis Collins (Wendy); niece, Rachel LaRocco (Matt); nephews, Andy Moore and Adam Moore (Mandy); great nephews and nieces, Joseph, Waylon, Anna and Tatum as well as a large extended family of horse riders. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com.

I don't know where to start with the memories. So many from being a neighbor, school and church. Our families were close growing up. I don't ever think I called you Meathead, although I heard plenty others do so. To Nancy and Herbert, I love you and understand the pain of losing a sibling. It just seems unreal. To Mike's wife and rest of the family, our prayers are with you and will continue to be with you. I can still see Mike on the basketball court and playing baseball at school with Billy. Those were great days, everyone was close. With love, prayers and great respect for the family, both current and past.

Joy, My heart aches for you as I can only imagine what you are going through at this time. The thing that kept me going when Paul died was that I was blessed to have him and yes we had our ups and downs... most importantly we had our family and love for one another. I pray that your 21 years have been one of great love as all the pictures I have seen do show you full of happiness and love for and with him. My prayers go out to your entire family at this time. You especially are in my prayers! Love, Danna (Poplawski) and Michael Snider <3

Our condolences to the family. We have many great memories of Mike (Meathead) from attending Bethany School years ago. He not only kept us laughing during classes but the teachers could not even get angry at him. He was what we call a "Good Ole Boy". He never met a stranger. We will miss him! Johnny & Carolyn Aheron
