Michael Anthony Paquette, 71, passed away at his home on July 15, 2026.
Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on November 9, 1954, Michael devoted more than 37 years to the restoration and preservation of historical monuments and artifacts. He also specialized in the restoration of leather saddlebags and motorcycle seats. He approached his work with exceptional craftsmanship, dedication, and pride.
Michael will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his quick wit, inability to turn away a stray cat, and his wonderful sense of humor. He had a lifelong passion for history, motorcycles, firearms, karate, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He especially enjoyed participating in shooting and karate competitions, riding motorcycles, and being affectionately known as “Uncle Michael” to those who loved him.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Ann Hopkins Paquette; his in-laws, Betsy Smith, Bryan Hopkins, and Joe Hopkins; his nieces and nephews, Shana and Devon Graham, Lauren and Michael McMillan, Chelsea Smith, and Cassidy and Joseph Summerlin; his great-nieces and great-nephew, Jocelyn and Evelyn McMillan, Isla and River Graham; his beloved “second mom” Peggy Hopkins and her children. And many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Mormand Paquette; his in-laws Jimmy and Diane Hopkins; and his sister-in-law, Lisa Hopkins.
The immediate family will hold a private memorial service. Information regarding a Celebration of Life will be shared with close family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Michael’s memory to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Michael’s kindness, loyalty, and generous spirit touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
