Melvin Bennett Bailey

Ruffin- NC - Melvin Bennett Bailey, 78, of 2640 Red Marshall Road, died on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his home. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Mr. Bailey was born in Rockingham County to the late Charlie and Lucy Cox Bailey. He was retired from Dan River Mills after 39 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Gladys McGuire Bailey of the home; Helen Pokrzywa and husband, Ed of Stokesdale, NC , Fran Murphy and husband, Sammy of Pelham, NC; step daughter, Mary Hardy and husband, Billy of Pelham, NC; step sons, Cosby Fulton of Gaffney, SC and Pete Fulton of Blairs, VA; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Thorton of Mississippi, Minnie Sue Peak and husband, Robert of Aiken, SC, Shirley Carroll of Umitilla, FL, Brenda Meek and husband, Jerry of Fairland, IN and May Garvey of Troutville, VA; brother, Lawrence Bailey of Rockvale, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
