Mechelle Christine Shettle Smith

Mechelle sadly passed away on October 7th, 2024, in the early morning at her home, leaving us all to miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on December 14th, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Pastor Phil Surrett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 P.M.

Mechelle Christine Shettle Smith, daughter of Rumari Sue Clements and Russell Shettle, was born on December 25th, 1972, at 12:32 A.M.—a Christmas baby—in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was educated at South River High School in Edgewater, Maryland.

She will forever be remembered as kind, smart, and beautiful. She was known for having the best conversations on any topic. With a deep knowledge of medicine and a natural ability to care for others, she always ensured her children and family stayed healthy. Mechelle had a passion for pottery, art, and music, spending hours singing along on long road trips. Her passionate soul will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. She was the best mother, daughter, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Mechelle is survived by her children, Xavier Rain Smith, Ashlyn Island Smith, and Victoria Shane Martin, as well as her siblings: John Tilghman, Kenneth Tilghman, John Shettle, Kimberly Shettle, Cliff Clements, and James Clements.

Her family remains united in love, and we are all grateful that she is now able to rest in peace.
