Marie McLeod Bates

Marie McLeod Bates, 93, went home on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Brookdale of Reidsville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Cochran officiating, burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 1:00-2:00PM.

Marie was born on November 7, 1928, to the late Enoch and Amanda McLeod in Harnett County, NC. She was an Executive Secretary at Sears and Roebuck for 45 years and also tutored elementary school children for a season.  She was a longtime member and dedicated Sunday School Teacher of Browns Summit Methodist Church and was very active in both the church and the community. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband of 53 years, playing golf, beach trips with her sister, Juanita, and spending time with her beloved grandson, Brandon.  Marie will be remembered as a kind, loving, social, woman who loved her family and the Lord.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Parrish Bates and son, Dean Lee Bates. Marie is survived by her daughter, Terry Dingess and husband, Tom; grandson, Brandon Lee Dingess; siblings, Neil McLeod and Juanita Watkins.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff and associates of Brookdale Reidsville for the loving care and compassion they bestowed on Marie and family; for over two years they gave her such joy. We would also like to thank AuthoraCare whom saw to her special medical and spiritual care in these many months without these two wonderful organizations we would have been lost. We were blessed!
