Listen to Obituary

Marian Cowart Lemons, 76, passed away on Saturday May 30, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday June 8, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Marian was born in Spokane Washington to the late Jesse A. Cowart Sr. and Murial F. Cowart. Marian was a woman whose life was filled with both triumphs and challenges, yet through it all she remained strong, resilient, and devoted to those she loved. She grew up surrounded by her family. She liked to share memories of those times. She carried a special bond with her mother throughout her life, remaining a mama's girl. Sweet yet feisty, she faced life's many ups and downs with courage and faith. One of her favorite places to connect with God was sitting by the beach, listening to the waves and sharing quiet conversations. Marian's love language was food. She was a wonderful cook whose meals brought family and friends together. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a family celebration, or an ordinary day, she made sure everyone was fed. Through the years, she worked in various areas of the food industry, serving her community with the same care and dedication she showed her family. Her cooking was legendary among those who knew her, and everyone always looked forward to enjoying one of her incredible meals. Nothing brought Marian more joy than her family and friends. There was always laughter and good times. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved watching her favorite television shows, including Outlander, Castle, and Emergency!. Her taste in music was just as diverse, ranging from the Beatles, Bon Jovi, and Janis Joplin to many other artists. It was never unusual to find her dancing and singing while she cleaned, cooked, or worked. One of the sounds her family will forever hold dear is the familiar shuffle of her house slippers as she moved throughout her home, affectionately known as the "Nannie Shuffle." It was a small thing that became a treasured part of who she was. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is once again with the loved ones who passed before her. We know she is surrounded by peace, love, and joy. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, laughter, faith, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. We already miss you, Marian(Mama/Nannie) Until we see you again.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Julie Blakely, Tommy Lemons and Teresa Lemons and her brother, Ronnie Cowart.

Marian is survived by her children, Sherry Bailey, Ted Lemons, Tonya Lemons, Brittney Travis(Dwayne), and Tony Humble; grandchildren, Josh(Angel), Daniel(Logan), Caleb(Brittany), Jerrell(Maddie), Luke, Jeremiah, Ethan, Kaylee, Riley Belle, Joey(Samantha), Hannah(Chey) and GabeOlivia); 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Karen Taylor (Ed), Butch Cowart (Carolyn), Jesse Cowart Jr. (Judy), Sean Cowart (Todd), and Shannon Cowart (CJ); best friends Tammy(Sissy) McCraw and Sarah Dillard; canine companion, TJ as well as a large and loving group of friends and extended family.
