Margaret "Vilma" Woods

Margaret “Vilma” Woods, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 2 ,2026 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Danview Cemetery with Pastor Arnold Peters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00AM and other times at her home.

Vilma was born on February 8, 1949, in Rockingham County to the late Howard and Ruth Knighten. After she graduated from High School, she worked for the Diana Shop and then worked for Attorney Ben Wrenn before starting her own cleaning business. When she was able, she loved to go shopping, meet with her friends, and have movie nights with her grandchildren. She loved her family more than anything and always put them first.

To know Vilma was to truly love her. Her heart was pure, her light shined up any room she walked into. She was loyal beyond measures, selfless, and a true nurturer. She was a charter member of Bibleway Community Church. As a God-fearing woman that lived through faith from our savior whom she now is with along with her husband of 60 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Woods; brothers, James Howard Knighten, Jr., William Sidney Knighten and infant sister, Wanda Sue Knighten.

She is survived by her sons, Donnie James Woods (Dana), Kelly Woods (Shelli); grandchildren, Morgan Sutton, Mallory Shaw (Donald), Sydney Morgan (Joe), Averie Woods (Jake), Ashlyn Woods (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Kensleigh Meeks, Eli Blackwell, Raylan Gardner, Makinzley Morgan, Jonah Morgan with one more on the way, Waylon Lloyd Shaw; special friends, Karen Woods, Vicky Sharrer, Barbara Allred.
