Margaret Martin Gantt

Margaret Martin Gantt, 81, of Reidsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, October 2, 2026, at Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her son, Darrell.

Margaret was born in Rockingham County to the late George Washington Martin and Edna Carter Martin. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and often showed her love by feeding and doing for others.

Margaret genuinely loved people and enjoyed being around them. She worked two jobs for many years, not because she liked to stay busy, but because she enjoyed the people she met and the relationships she made along the way. She retired from Unifi/Macfield after more than 30 years and also worked as a Tupperware consultant, which was a natural fit for someone who loved talking to and being around people. Even after retirement, Margaret worked as a greeter at Walmart, where she could continue doing what came naturally to her—meeting people, talking with them, and making them feel welcome. The people there loved Margaret, just as it seemed everyone who met her did.

She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her sister, loved to shop, and was always on the go. Margaret was not one to sit still. She liked staying active, being with people, and enjoying life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 20 years, Timothy Harold Gantt, Sr.; brothers, Paul Edward Martin and Clyde William Martin; and sister, Mary Ann Martin Austin.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Timothy Harold Gantt, Jr. of Reidsville, Darrell Wayne Gantt and wife, Lori, of Reidsville, and Jason Keith Gantt and wife, Karoline, of Greenfield, Indiana; grandchildren, Timothy Harold Gantt III and fiancé Taylor, Jacob Thomas Gantt, Joshua Dean Gantt, Noah Wayne Gantt, Karson Jace Gantt and fiancé Muireann, Abbagail Joy Gantt, Raleigh Jude Gantt, and Quincy Jad Gantt; great-grandchildren, Declan Miles Gantt, Graham Thomas Gantt, Avery Blake Gantt, and Connor Wayne Briggs; sister, Alice Faye Hedrick and special dear friend and sister-in-law, Beulah Gantt Moore.
