Lucille Stewart Anderson

Lucille Stewart Anderson, 94, of Reidsville, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Miller and Rev. Howard Spray officiating. Interment will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Lucille was born in Rockingham County to the late Willie Kenneth Stewart and Frances Mitchell Stewart. She worked at American Tobacco Company where she met her late husband William Richard Anderson. After marrying she left American Tobacco to be a stay at home mom. She loved working in the yard and mowed her own yard well into her 80’s. She grew the most beautiful flowers and enjoyed feeding her birds and other animals. She loved eating Mayberry hotdogs, her dog Shiloh, her son-in-laws and most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years William Richard Anderson; son, William Richard Anderson Jr. as well as five brothers and one sister. Survivors include her daughters, Judith Anderson Matthews (Gene), Linda Anderson Thomas (Ed); grandchildren, Shannon Matthews Rogers (Kurt), Brandi Matthews Maynard (Scott), Mary Thomas Carroll (Brent), Shelby Anderson and Edmund Thomas as well as 8 great grandchildren and a large extended family.
