Louise Morris Carey

Louise Morris Carey died on April 14, 2021 in Wentworth North Carolina. Louise was born in the Bethany community of Rockingham County, September 20,1930. She was the daughter of William Bryan Phibbs and Lillie Stewart Phibbs. Louise was delivered by her grandfather Dr. Joseph Thornton Stewart in the home. Louise was raised by her mother after the death of her father at age 4. Her mother instilled in her a tremendous work ethic and modeled for her what it means to be a working mother. The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland during World War II where her mother worked for Grumman Air. There she graduated high school and attended business school. Louise loved her work. She was part owner of Hudson Lester Hardware and sole owner of Reidsville Carpet She also loved her relationships with her coworkers and customers. She married her first husband, James Thomas Morris in 1953. They were parents to four children James Thomas Morris Jr, Janet Morris, Lu Ann Morris and Cindy Morris. Louise wanted her children to reach their full potential and have happy, productive lives. She particularly wanted her daughters to be able to provide for themselves and be independent. Louise is predeceased by her husband James, her son James Thomas Morris, Jr, her second husband Ross Carey, sister Daphne Phibbs Jones, and brother Rodney Stewart Phibbs. Her family includes her daughters Janet Morris Hancock and husband Lee of Reidsville; Lu Ann Morris Little and husband Jim of Raleigh; Cindy Wheeler and husband Tim of Summerfield; grandchildren; James Thomas Morris III, Kristie Morris Naranjo and husband Eric, Morgan Hancock Rierson and husband John, James Little, Bryce Little and wife Cara, Price Wheeler and Paige Wheeler; great-grandchildren Dragon, Dravon and Draxton Naranjo, and Roan Little. Those contemplating a remembrance are asked to consider Hospice of Rockingham County or the charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held April 18, 2021 at Mount Bethel Christian Church, 8130 N.C. 65, Summerfield, N.C. at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sharon Lee officiating. Louise was always such a kind, loving person and a very generous hostess. Her family would always host a big 4th of July celebration every year and all friends and family would come. In addition to the good food, we would go out in the garden and pick all kinds of vegetables that were in season. The older ladies would sit around under the shade trees and shell the butter beans, or peas, or whatever was in season. It was good family memories. Anne Cheshire

Dear family, my back door neighbors my entire life before marriage. There are so many memories of the times of y'all coming to our house and us going through the pines and path to your house. Sending love, hugs and prayers to all of you. May all the happy memories and knowing the love you all had, give you comfort and peace in the days and more ahead. Love from Lesa Marshall Southard.
