Our dearly loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Great-great grandmother Lomie Mae Hill Strader gained her much deserved angel wings on Thursday, April 21 ,2022 at UNC Rockingham Nursing Care Center in Eden, NC.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 2 P.M. at Happy Home Cemetery. Following the service there will be a visitation and reception at Happy Home Church.
She was the most wonderful, loving, Christian woman you have ever met. Her family roots ran deep and even though we did not want her to leave us, we all have the faith in knowing she is rejoicing in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her husband Alfred Strader, her loving mother and father Carl and Elsie Hill and her dear sister Dot Sprinkle.
Lomie worked with Rockingham County School Systems for 40 years where she was a receptionist and switchboard operator until her second retirement at the age of 80. She was the oldest living member of Happy Home Church where she attended and taught Sunday School. She loved to travel and spend time on the beach. She was a wonderful cook and was renowned for her Chocolate pies and for her candy basket, which gave countless children a sweet treat.
She is survived by son; Dennis Strader (Sue), daughter; Donna Strader Myers (James), Grandchildren; Tim Strader (Desiree), Tammy Strader, Julie Myers Sladky (Dean), Jenny Myers McFarling (Chris); Great-Grandchildren; Josh Clark (Kelly), Wesley Clark, Regan Strader, Owen Strader, Thomas Sladky, Christopher McFarling, Noah McFarling and Great-great-grandson; Garrett Clark
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Happy Home Church at 201 Wiley Road, Ruffin, NC 27326.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Shewann McBee, Deborah Anderson, Harriet Culp, Priscila Herndon and Alma Minter for taking care of her during her last days.
