Linda Barham Hershman, 83, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Cochran officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday July 2nd, 2026, at the funeral home.
Linda was born in Rockingham County to the late William J. “Nick” Barham and Sarah Martin Barham. She graduated from Bethany High School in 1961 and went to work at Sears. In 1964, she met and married the love of her life, Jay, a yankee (but really a midwesterner) who enticed her to move to Indiana. With a growing family, they moved back to NC in 1967 and built their home together in the Bethany Community where they have remained. Linda enjoyed playing softball, playing for many years in the local church league for New Lebanon Church where she is a member. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and once grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, was a loving Grandma and Lolly. She was thoughtful and caring, knew what kind of candy you like and would always have “something in the car for you” as a treat. Her light and kindness will live on in all who knew and loved her
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Barham, Sister-in-law, Sharon Barham, brother-in-law, John Goodman, brother-in-law, Jeff Hershman.
Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jay Hershman of Reidsville; daughter, Jill Cairo of Wilmington; Son, Jimmy Hershman of Reidsville; grandchildren, Jaylyn Crouch (Danny) of Eden, Madelyn Cairo of Wilmington, Kendall Hershman of Reidsville, Chloe Hershman of Reidsville and Maddox Hershman of Reidsville; great grandchildren, Auri, Ellie and Sebastian Crouch; sisters, Patsy Goodman of Reidsville, Margie Ellington (Danny) of Reidsville and Eva Fox (Steve) of Reidsville; sisters-in-law, Holly Teasley (Marty) of Indianapolis and Tammy Hershman of Merrillville along with a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Ancora Compassionate Care at PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
