Leonard Gary Martin Sr.

Leonard Gary Martin Sr. 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at Happy Home Church on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM with Mr. Jesse Gauldin officiating. The family will receive friends 1hr prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of his daughter, Shady Creek Farm.

Leonard was a loving husband, father, Papa, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He proudly served in the National Guard and was a hardworking and dedicated man throughout his life. His connection with the Reidsville Review began at just 10 years old, when he started carrying newspapers. Over the years, his hard work and commitment led him to operate the printing press, and he remained with the Reidsville Review until his retirement. Throughout his life, Leonard enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He loved playing softball and coaching, carpentry, motorcycles, trucks, boating, art, and poetry. He especially treasured spending time with his grandchildren and creating memories with his family. More than his work and accomplishments, Leonard will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the friendships he shared with others. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a treasured Papa, and a loyal friend. His memory will continue to live on through the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the many memories held close by those who loved him.

Along with his parents, James Garland Martin and Louise Moore Martin, he is preceded in death by, his son Leonard “Len” Gary Martin Jr.;

Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gail Page Martin; daughters, Kim Gauldin, and Wendy Martin; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
