Listen to Obituary

Kathleen Bennett Abel, 83, of Reidsville, rolled into Heaven on June 22, 2026.

A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.

Kathleen was born in Upper Darby, in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, to the late Carl Bennett and Helen King Bennett. She was a free spirit who never liked to stay in one place for too long. A true rolling stone, she loved to travel and was always ready for her next adventure. Among her favorite places were West Virginia and Texas. She never let the grass grow under her feet and embraced life with energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm. More than anything, Kathleen adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Her family will forever remember her colorful sayings, including "Bean soup!", "Roll call," and "It's better out than in," which always brought a smile and reflected her unique personality.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Abel; her son, Andrew Bennett of Reidsville; her brother, Carl Bennett of West Virginia; and her sister, Loretta Weber of Missouri. She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Salinas of Reidsville, Rachael Ponce and husband Jorge Ponce of Reidsville, and Jane Freeland and husband Stan Freeland of Newark, West Virginia; her grandchildren, Jonathan Burdette, Craig Pruitt, Jr., Chad Pruitt, Dominique Abel, Alec Abel, April Abel, Daniel Abel, Brittany Abel Cifuentes, Tom Freeland and Ashley Hickman; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Kathleen's adventurous spirit, warm heart, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
