Judith "Faye" Vaughn Barham

Judith “Faye” Vaughn Barham, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9,2026 surrounded by her children. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Faye was born in Rockingham County to the late George Edward Vaughn Sr. and Bessie Oneilia Cox.

She was a hardworking and loving mother who dedicated her life to caring for her children and family.

Throughout the years, she worked for the Clerk’s Office, she did catering, and became well known for the beautiful wedding and birthday cakes she created. She also shared her talent and creativity by teaching cake decorating classes at the college.

Outside of work, she enjoyed the things that made her smile most. She loved racing and was a devoted fan of Chase Elliott after the retirement of Dale Earnhardt Jr. She never missed her “stories” — her beloved soap operas — and also enjoyed watching Storage Wars and Deal or No Deal.

She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, caring heart, creativity, and the love she poured into both her family and everything she created.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Larry Steven Barham Jr.; Siblings, George Edward Vaughn Jr., Doris Jean Parks, Kenneth M. Vaughn; special nephews, Timothy Vaughn and Dwain Parks.

She is survived by her children, Bryan Keith Barham and Tina Barham; Brother, David Vaughn; Special friends, Doris Ratliff, Dot Early, and Melissa Tilley, beloved cat, Pookie as well as a loving group of extended family and friends.

The family would like to offer a special thanks for the loving care their mom received from the staff at Ancora Compassionate Care and from her friend, Melissa Tilley, the two of them were like Thelma and Louise and hit every Food Lion and Dollar General in town. Mom always had so much fun on their adventures and we are forever grateful to you Melissa.
