Judie Mariene Apple Bullins

Judie Mariene Apple Bullins met her Savior face-to-face Sunday August 30, 2026. She took her last earthly breaths surrounded by her devoted family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday September 3, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Hester, Chaplain Linwood Carver and Adam Light officiating. The burial will be held at Reidlawn Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Judie was born April 15, 1948, to Charlie and Marie Hines Apple, and she lived in Reidsville for most of her life. She was a 1966 graduate of Reidsville High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in 1968 from Rockingham Community College, where she met her future husband, Chuck Bullins.

Judie was a life-long member of Community Baptist Church. A gifted pianist/organist, she began playing for the church at 16 and continued for over 60 years. She and Chuck performed for years and recorded in a vocal group with Doug Shumate, Ken and Barbara Strader. Judie used her God-given musical talent to impact hundreds of students over the years, many of whom went on to serve in various music ministries in their churches as well. She played for countless weddings and funerals over the years along with local theater productions. Judie also held many leadership positions in the church including president of the ladies’ missionary fellowship and serving on the CBS school board.

After starting work as a computer programmer, Judie taught piano for many years so that she could be home with her daughters. She re-entered the workforce as a bank teller, working at several banks before settling in and retiring from First Citizens. But her favorite “job” came in October 2000 when she became Mimi to her first grandchild. Judie loved family beach trips, Disney with her grandkids, and any-and-all sporting events. Sunday lunch at Mimi’s was a highlight of everyone’s week!

Judie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Chuck Bullins; daughters Wendy Light and husband Greg, Heidi Phillips and husband Chris; grandchildren Hannah Light Rohrer and husband Wesley, Adam Light, and Boston Phillips; sister-in-law Teeny Vernon and husband Mike; many cousins and close friends including special cousin - like sisters - Rosalee Stanfield and husband Jerry.
