Jon Matthew Knight

Jon M. Knight died Friday afternoon, April 28th, 2023, at his home in Reidsville NC.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Prior to, and up to his death, Jon was surrounded by his loved ones, both human and feline, exactly as he had desired.

Jon attended and graduated from Bethany High School where he was mentored by the best teachers: Lyn and Wayne Seymour. Jon also studied a few years at Guilford College.

Jon was an extremely bright and talented man. He had served in the Air Force early on for about six years.  While in the service, he met the mother of his children, (dear Becky) at Lajes Field, on the Azores Island of Terceira. While in the service, one of his jobs was working in and later supervising lab work.  He could fix most any type of lab equipment.

Later Jon worked with his brothers Ed and Bev Knight, drawing designs for houses and apartments. He loved this type of work and more recently drew the plans for the addition to his fiancé's sisters' house, which turned out great.

Jon finally moved on to IT work, doing contract work for Short Sugars BBQ, Chrismon Refrigeration Sales, and Wilkerson Funeral Home. He also worked on and fixed many computers for the private sector, who he was devoted to helping and charging a fair price, even working for free for people he felt couldn't afford it.

Of all his “jobs”, however, none would ever compare to the privilege, Jon confided, of  doing a stint at being a stay-at-home-dad while his twins were toddlers.  He treasured that wonderful time!

Jon loved his Trishie, his family, cats, writing and keeping up with world affairs.  He had his own opinions regarding politics, which when asked, he would gladly share.  He loved his country, but not necessarily his government.  A very opinionated person, he was quirky and extremely smart, could be extremely kind and extremely tactless beyond normal limits but extremely loyal to both friends and family and honest to a fault.

Jon remained true to himself until the end of his life.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He preceded in death by his father, George Morris Knight; and his feline friends Kosh and Lilu.

Jon is survived by his the love of his life, Trish Larimer; his children Evan Knight and wife Rachel and Ty Knight and wife Anjali; grandson Remy; mother Hermine Heller and husband Bob; siblings Maurice Knight and wife Lina, Dawn Jones, Beverly Knight, Ed Knight and wife Lidija, Melinda Payne and husband David, James Weeder and wife, Yun, DeAnna Gwynn and husband Darryl, and Rex Knight; special niece Stesha Warren; special friends Brad Clymer and Tommy Rivers; and a large extended family.

From Jon to YOU

Thats

That I am so blessed

to have known you at all,

that I have the fortune

to call you my friend;

That we shared a lifetime

in days now long passed,

that our memories last,

That our love never ends.
