Johnnie McGhee Thacker

Johnnie McGhee Thacker, 84, of Reidsville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2PM on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor William “Billy” Harmon and Pastor Carroll Musik officiating.

Johnnie was born in Rockingham County to the late Charlie Thacker and Lucy May. He went to work for Cone Mills at age 16 before being drafted into the US Army where he served 2 years before returning to employment with Cone Mills. He retired from Cone Mills with over 50 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and played locally at Monroeton and Wolf Creek golf courses. Most of all he loved his family he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Cordia Branch.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Moorefield Thacker; son, Jon Thacker Jr.; brothers, Ed Thacker and Paul Thacker as well as a loving group of extended family and friends.
