Jo Ann Green

Jo Ann Green, 82, of Reidsville, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, May 27, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Bouck officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Jo Ann was born in Guilford County to the late John William Payne and Mary Cleo Brown Payne. She began her early years as a secretary at AMP Incorporated before joining her husband farming tobacco in Brown Summit. Together, they would retire from farming and spend the rest of their careers as co-owners and operators of Monroeton Golf Club, where she was the heart of the course, hosting and playing in many tournaments. Jo Ann was a devout member of Monticello United Church of Christ where she was the pianist for approximately 30 years. When she wasn’t overseeing operations at the golf course, she spent her time traveling the country with her husband and friends. One of Jo Ann’s greatest joys came from spending time in her beloved flower gardens. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Tracy Tillman Green and brother, Henry Payne. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Otis Tillman Green; daughter, Cheryl Green Yeatts (Jesse); grandchildren, Ashleigh Falls, Aly Belongia (Rich) and Stone Yeatts; great granddaughter, Sadie Jo Belongia as well as a loving extended family.

Guestbook

Im so sorry for your loss of this wonderful lady. It was my privilege to play piano at Monticello UCC with Jo Ann at the organ in 2006 and 2007, and to have the opportunity to get to know her even better. I hope that I can have the peace and courage throughout a serious illness as she did, and I pray that I can face difficult decisions with the confidence, trust and grace that she did. Blessings and peace to you all. Kathy Brande

Jo Ann and Otis were always there and willing to help in so many ways when the three NASCAR golf tournaments were held at Monroeton Golf Course during the 80s and 90s. She was a sweet person and I enjoyed many hours talking with her during those days. My thoughts and prayers are with Otis and her family and friends.
