Jesse Melvin Brame

Reidsville: Jesse Melvin Brame, 79, of 116 Brame Road, Reidsville, NC, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013, at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Sunday, December 1, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mickey Alcorn officiating. The burial will follow in the Smyrna Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military graveside rites. Mr. Brame was a native of Rockingham County and was the son of the late Hester and Etta Mentoria Draper Brame. He was a veteran serving in the US Army and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He loved the outdoors and was affectionately known as the “Turtle Man”. He worked as a farmer and was an avid sportsman his whole life. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Melvin Lee Brame; and brothers, Bud and Willie Brame. Mr. Brame is survived by his wife, Edna Williams Brame of the home; sons, Daryl Brame and wife, Lisa and Lee Brame and wife, Beth all of Reidsville; his daughter, Caryl Greene and husband, Charlie of Reidsville; six grandchildren, Alissa Brame, Jennifer Brame, Lea Brame, James Greene, Samantha Greene and Niki Lilly; one great grandchild, Eli Brame; sister, Annie Tucker of Reidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 30 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and other times at the home. Wilkerson Funeral Home, Reidsville, NC, is in charge of arrangements.
