Jerry “Rabbit” Michael Proctor, 71, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at his home in Greensboro.

A graveside service will be held at Center United Methodist Church, 6142 Lake Brandt Rd, Greensboro, NC 27455, on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00PM. In honor of his wishes, the family request for all in attendance to wear blue jeans at his funeral.

Rabbit was born on August 5, 1953, in Rockingham County to the late Glenn Thomas Proctor Sr and Martha Eula Mabe Proctor. He was a Truck Driver for most of his life before retiring from Longs Asphalt, but he worked for many different companies over the course of his career. He liked racecars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, but he loved his little dog Lucy who passed away a few years ago. After his sister, Cookie, dragged him on a cruise, he finally realized that he enjoyed traveling. Rabbit had a good heart and was a legend in Summerfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Duley Proctor and sister, Phyllis Jane Lowry.

Rabbit is survived by his wife of 13 years, Shirley Proctor; sister, Brenda “Cookie” Proctor Winfree; special nephew, Tommy Dixon; in addition to numerous other nieces, nephews and extend family.
