Listen to Obituary

James Curtis Richmond Jr., 68, passed away on Thursday, October 8th, 2026.

James was born in Rockingham County to the late James Curtis Richmond Sr. and Frances Laverne Roach. Jimmy was a strong-willed man who did things his own way, on his own terms, and preferably without anyone telling him otherwise. He had a mind of his own, a love for motorcycles and music, a firm control of the thermostat, and apparently a lifelong commitment to keeping things interesting. But beneath that stubborn streak and mischievous spirit was a man whose love for his family ran deep. His family was his greatest pride and joy.

His absence will leave a void that cannot be filled. The world will be a little quieter without him, though those who knew him best might suspect he would have preferred to leave things a little louder. He leaves behind countless memories, plenty of stories, and a family who will miss him more than words can express.

A memorial service will be held at Pleasant View Assembly of God on Saturday October 17, 2026, at 1PM with Pastor Gary Loftis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Donna Richmond; children, Renee Rowland; Tonya Yelton, Miranda Doyle, James Eric Richmond (Jacqueline); 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; stepmother, Brenda Richmond; brothers, Ken Richmond, Kurt Richmond; special caretaker, Monique Brim along with a large and loving group of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association.
