James Nixon

James “Jamey” William Nixon, 88 passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:30 PM with Pastor John Bradley officiating.

Jamey was born in Danville Virginia to the late James Robert Nixon and Alice Virginia Evans. He was in the Civil Air Patrol and an amateur radio operator, handle K4RVJ. Jamey retired from Burlington Industries after 38 years of service. He loved animals, especially his cats, CQ and Tweety and his daughter’s dog, Jasper. He enjoyed shooting at the Rockingham County Gun Club. He was a wonderful father and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life for 53 years, Jean “Jeannie” Nixon.

He survived by his daughter, Wendy Nixon Smith and husband, Gerald.
