Houston Malloy Poteat, 91, of Reidsville, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, February 22, 2019 at UNC Rockingham Health Care (Formerly Morehead Hospital). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Elder David Underwood officiating. He will be recognized with military honors and the burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Poteat was born in Caswell County to the late, Robert and Elizabeth Smith Poteat. He served in the US Army just after WWII. Mr. Poteat retired from the American Tobacco Company with over 40 years of service. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching golf on television. His yard was always immaculate and he loved working in his garden. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby London Poteat; his brothers, Fred, Wilson, Sterling, Preston, Edgar and Louis Poteat; and his step brothers, Amon and Paul Massey. He is survived by a large extended family. Gary and I always enjoyed being with Houston and Ruby. They would visit Houstons brother (Garys father) and we would always see them. Garys father looked forward to their visits after Garys mother died.
