Henry Jackson Evans
Henry Jackson Evans Jr., 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Reverend Lance Cole and Reverend Randy Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Friday, May 24, 2019 other times at the home. Henry was born in Rockingham County to the late Henry Jackson Evans Sr. and Viola Poindexter Evans. He retired from the Reidsville Police Department as a Master Police officer after 45 years of service. After a short retirement, he returned to the community and job that he loved as a downtown officer and later as the Lake Reidsville Park Ranger. Henry was known as a hard worker and had the reputation as one who always enforced the law, no matter who was the guilty party. Henry once told his wife, “If you break the law, I will give you a ticket too!” During his tenure as a police officer, Henry had several nicknames. One of his nicknames was “handyman”; and the one he loved most was “Bulldog”. He loved helping people and loved serving his community. There was no greater servant among this Reidsville community than Henry “Bulldog” Evans. He will be greatly missed. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Henry Jackson Evans III; sisters, Sara Davis and Brenda Tucker. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Ann Evans; children, Teresa Evans and Mike Perdue (Diana); 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Janice Murray (Joe) and a large extended family. To plant memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Henry Evans, please visit our flower store.

Remembering this man of strong character and great sense of service! Though known as a quiet youngster when we were all in school, we all sensed he would prove to be quite special. Condolences to all his family from an old school friend. Earlene Gentry

Ann I was so sad to see this this morning! You know I loved Henry like a father and I will always cherish the memories I have of him taking me to and from school in that ugly yellow dog catcher truck! Also he got me hooked on bologna and cheese sandwiches with a slice of pineapple! I love you and will keep you in my prayers as well as rest of the family!

Henry, or Bulldog, as we called him, was a great mentor and so fun to talk to! His advice got me through some tough times and might have saved my life on a few occasions. Rest In Peace, my friend.
