Helen Louise Somers Bowman Turner Windsor, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Mickey Alcorn officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at the home. A graveside committal will follow the service at Evergreen with Preach Marvin E. Bowman officiating.
Helen was Born in Rockingham County to the late William Roy Somers and Mary Eliza Tate. Helen was a wonderful Godly Christian lady who LOVED the Lord and served Him faithfully. She was a LOVING mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Helen was a home maker, caregiver, sales lady, cafeteria lady but her greatest loved job was as daycare director and teacher at Faith Baptist Academy. She enjoyed stickering, word searching and reading her bible. She LOVED watching Dr. Charles Stanley and cruised to Alaska with his ministry in 2015. Helen LOVED gardening, mowing the yard and enjoyed outside activities. She also LOVED spending precious time with her family. Her sweet dog Suzie Q was a constant companion who never left her side.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Charles M. Turner and Jesse L. Windsor and her granddaughter, Anna Marie Moore.
She is survived by the father of her children, Marvin E. Bowman; children, Lisa B. Moore (Mark sr.), Steve E. Bowman (Lisa) and Cynthia B. Bender (Jeff); grandchildren, Mark Lee Moore Jr. (Michelle), Leslie M. Bender (Tim), Landen S. Bowman (Kathy), Austin R. Bowman (Megan), T. J. Bowman (Tracey), Bradley C. Bowman, Brenna N. Weyant (Luke), Morgan E. Huepenbecker (Josh); great grandchildren, James, Thomas, Lilly and Evelyn Bender, Makenzie, Luke and Levi Moore, Waylen Bowman, Presley Bowman, Sadie and Caroline Weyant; siblings, Dewey L. Somers (Julia); special care givers, Ronda Goins, Tina Hutchens and Sharon Moore; special friend, Drew Hazelwood as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church at 1213 Boyd Road, Reidsville NC 27320.
